Voting Day...

It's voting day... and we have about a foot of snow on the ground! It has been snowing steadily for the past 2 days now, and it's still snowing this morning. I stocked up on food and supplies yesterday in case we wouldn't be able to get out today. Good thing! But, I still have to get out somehow to vote! And with the schools closed today, they won't be plowing our road for the school buses, so will have to maneuver in the snow. :(

Jake and Derek are sick. Well, Jake looks like he feels better today. But Derek woke up in the middle of the night crying with a stiff shoulder. Couldn't find any Tylenol, of course. I finally found it this morning, but I've had my usual headache myself so my brain is gone, and just couldn't think in the dark with my head throbbing. ::sigh:: Poor Derek! I'm certainly not the best of Moms when I've got my own headache...

Derek was getting sick Saturday. We were at a chess tournament, and in the third round, he came out looking pale and saying he felt like throwing up, so didn't play well because he couldn't think. Fortunately, there was a grocery store around the corner, so I drove over there and got some Pepto Bismol chewables for him. It seemed to do the trick, as he whizzed through the remainder of the rounds and took second. Too bad he didn't feel better for that one round, as he probably would have beaten that kid, too, and taken first.

And then on Sunday was hockey. And he played like he didn't feel well, but when I asked him how he felt, he angrily retorted, "I'M FINE!" Okay, yeah, fine. Sheesh. Stupid me; hockey players are ALWAYS Just Fine, aren't they?? Butt out, Mom.

So yesterday Derek and Jake spent in bed watching videos instead of playing out in the snow. And it looks like Derek will be in bed again today. And Jake is already talking about going out to the property and driving around to see if anyone needs to be pulled out. ::sigh:: He always worries me...
